Supporting Farm Africa

Imp & Maker are proud supporters, and avid fundraisers for Farm Africa. Farm Africa is an innovative charity that reduces poverty in rural eastern Africa by helping farmers grow more, sell more and sell for more: helping farmers to not only boost yields, but also gain access to markets, and add value to their produce.

About Farm Africa

Farm Africa places a high priority on environmental sustainability and develops approaches that help farmers to improve their yields and incomes without degrading their natural resources. Farm Africa’s programmes vary hugely, ranging from helping crops farmers to boost harvests, livestock keepers to improve animal health, and forest coffee growers to reach export markets, but core to all of them is a focus on the financial sustainability of the farmers’ businesses and environmental sustainability.

Imp & Maker X Farm Africa

For many years, Farm Africa has been a cause close to the heart of our Founder, Sarah Louise Fairburn. In 2019, Sarah Louise worked closely with Farm Africa by taking part in the Thousand Trees Challenge project in Uganda alongside seven other senior women from the UK food industry. Witnessing first-hand the poverty and malnutrition these vulnerable women combat, was the driving force behind the creation of the Farm Africa ‘Hampers that Help’ to support Farm Africa’s ‘Livestock for Livelihoods’ project. This range allows Imp & Maker to support Farm Africa in their endeavours to empower and raise the profile of female farmers by providing them with the opportunity, support, and guidance they need to flourish.

Livestock for Livelihoods

The ’Livestock for Livelihoods’ project is committed to helping pastoralist women in rural Uganda and Ethiopia to run small-scale farming businesses that will increase their incomes and improve their families’ nutrition. By providing them with the foundations to create their own businesses, helping them to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, and teaching them how to maximize their productivity, Farm Africa aim to improve their opportunity for income.

Hampers that Help

Imp & Maker will donate £5 from the sale of all products in the Power Hamper Collection to Farm Africa’s Livestock for Livelihoods project. Registered charity number 326901. Purchasing a hamper of products completely curated by women, to pamper yourself or a loved one, whilst contributing to the future of women in rural Africa is the perfect example of women supporting women. *Photos shown are Chris de Bode / Panos Pictures for Farm Africa.
