Like most good stories, this one begins with a bit of mischief. World Gin & Tonic Day was dreamt up by the family of Mary Edith Keyburn, a woman who, legend has it, enjoyed her final G&T in a teacup at the hospital. (Now that’s commitment.)
Since then, every 19th October, gin lovers worldwide come together to celebrate her memory and the brilliant pairing that’s been lifting spirits (literally) for centuries.
A Little Love Letter to the G&T
Gin has been around since the 1600s, but it truly came into its own when someone clever decided to mix it with tonic, originally made with quinine to ward off malaria. What started as medicine quickly became magic.
Fast forward a few hundred years, and we’re spoilt for choice. Craft gins, botanical tonics, pink peppercorns, citrus twists, it’s a whole universe of flavour. The G&T has evolved from colonial concoction to cocktail royalty, and we are absolutely here for it.
